The LULAC Denison Scholarship Fund Endowment
is an endowed scholarship fund designed to build upon and supplement existing scholarships given by LULAC Denison. These scholarships will be administered by LULAC Denison and are open to all qualified graduating students of any ethnicity at Denison Community Schools. Supplementary funds for this endowment will be managed through the Denison School Foundation, working closely with the Denison LULAC chapter, while partnering with the Crawford County Community Foundation, which is an affiliate of the Omaha Community Foundation. Scholarships will be awarded to successful applicants by LULAC Denison starting in 2023 using an application process similar to what LULAC Denison uses currently.

The cost of higher education has doubled every 9 years - a tuition increase of 8% per year.
Furthermore, since 2020, over two-thirds of all job openings have required some kind of higher education - vocational, associate’s, or bachelor’s.
Higher education is not a luxury in the modern economy, it is a necessity that too many in our community cannot financially afford.
This scholarship endowment fund is the best way we can ensure the youth of our community can pursue these educational and occupational opportunities.

How this Endowment Fund works
LULAC Denison was the recipient of a grant from the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration (FSPA) and of that grant, $40,000 dollars was designated for a LULAC-administered endowment fund for local scholarships.
To supplement this endowment, we are seeking to raise $25,000 locally which will be matched dollar-for-dollar by an anonymous Denison alumnus.
This will be the start of a endowment campaign to add supplementary funds to the LULAC-administered endowment fund with a minimum goal of $75,000 to raise.
We are seeking donations from service organizations, businesses, and individuals.
We plan to hold local fundraisers to continue growing the fund.
Fundraising efforts are underway, and we plan to start awarding these financially supplemented scholarships by May 2023.

As such, contributions qualify for the maximum tax deductibility for income, gift and state tax purposes. Additionally, your gift to this permanent endowment fund may be eligible to receive a 25% Endow Iowa Tax Credit.
